Viehhändler, Rebellenführer, Held.
Die Dauerausstellung nähert sich dem Tiroler Volkshelden Andreas Hofer mit einem Augenzwinkern. Sie zeigt, wie es 1809 zum Aufstand der Tiroler gegen Napoleon kam. Sie erlaubt einen Blick hinter Hofers Stirn, in seine Verzweiflung über Gott und den Kaiser. Und sie erklärt, wie die Zeit nach Hofer aus ihm trotz seines Scheiterns einen Helden fabrizierte.

Helden & Hofer geht über Andreas Hofer hinaus.
Es wird deutlich, wie Helden entstehen und wofür man sie gebrauchen und auch missbrauchen kann.

    La mostra permanente si accosta con simpatia al popolare eroe tirolese. Illustra come è nata la rivolta tirolese contro Napoleone nel 1809 e consente di gettare uno sguardo nei pensieri di Hofer, che dopo le sconfitte stava perdendo fiducia in Dio e nell'imperatore. Infine illustra come i posteri abbiano fatto di Hofer un eroe malgrado il suo fallimento.
    Ma “Eroi & Hofer” va al di là del personaggio Andreas Hofer, per mostrare come nascono gli eroi, e a quali scopi ci si possa servire di loro, ma anche abusare delle loro figure.

  • Cattle-dealer, rebel leader, hero. The permanent exhibition cast an ironic eye over the legend of the Tyrolean popular hero Andreas Hofer. It shows how the Tyrolean rebellion of 1809 against Napoleon unfolded. It offers a glimpse into Hofer’s mind and his despair with God and the Emperor. And it shows how, despite his failure, the era following Hofer made him into a hero.
    Heroes & Hofer goes beyond Andreas Hofer to show how heroes arise and how they are used – and abused.

Frauen erzählen

Der Aufstand von 1809 wird meist nur aus der Sicht der Männer erzählt. In Helden & Hofer kommen in fiktiven Monologen auch vier Frauen zu Wort. Hier Anna, die Witwe Andreas Hofers.

Der Parcours

500 m2 Ausstellungsfläche.
Dazu der Hofer-Film von ca. 15 Minuten Länge. Für Helden & Hofer sollte man sich eine Stunde Zeit nehmen. Manche Besucher*innen lassen sich auch deutlich länger fesseln.
